A team of three Land Rover LR4s covered 4,000-plus miles from Asheville, N.C., to the Oregon coast, following an off-road route called the Trans-America Trail charted by motorcycle legend Sam Correro in the 1990s. No other production car is known to have ever completed this journey.

It’s been all change at Volvo in the last year, with the Swedish car maker going from being the last vestige of Ford’s ill-fated Premier Auto Group to the first high-profile car maker to fall to the Chinese resurgence as an economic force. Volvo also has a new boss in former VW man Stefan Jacoby, who has made it clear he doesn’t see Volvo as a ‘Premier’ marque. Lotus has revealed a limited edition Exige S - the Scura / Stealth
Based on the Lotus Exige, the Scura manages to coax an extra 40bhp from its 1.8 litre Toyota supercharged engine, offering 260 of Hethel’s finest horses to play with. That will see the Scura get to 60mph in 4 seconds and break 10 seconds to 100mph. Top speed is 152mph.
